Carla's top female songs of all time:

10. Misery Business
Paramore
Hayley Williams leads this very cool outfit from Tennessee, songwriter, keyboardist, vocalist and powerhouse of energy on stage.

9. You Oughta Know
Alanis Morrisette
This record was so good, it's like she cursed herself with anything else she put out there, to the point where she had to re-release it in different forms. Angsty, from the heart and represented everything I was feeling at the time, a record that was part of my formative years.

8. Smile
Lily Allen
The music is sweet and lulling. The lyrics are tough, screw you and as attitudinal as you come to expect from Lily. Queen of cool.

7. I kissed a girl
Katy Perry
Every boy wants to kiss her, every girl wants to be her or both. Infectious pop songs that are well written and brilliantly performed. Katy is exceptionally sweet and grounded despite her success, let’s hope it stays that way.

6. Crazy in Love
Beyonce
Any one who can fall down an entire flight of stairs and continue to sing their lungs out commands my respect. Single Ladies might be a recent anthem, but this tune is the ultimate Beyonce for me. Up tempo, brass sections, rapping from her now husband Jay Z, catchy crazy love song.

5. Fallin
Alicia Keys
Singer, songwriter, philanthropist, actor, child prodigy, musician, author, Grammy award winning legend. Alicia has style and swagger to boot. Loads of very cool swagger.

4. Waterfalls
TLC
Waterfalls . True pioneers for RnB girl groups, they had clear direction about what they wanted to record and who they were. Sadly with the passing of Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes, really marked the end of an era of TLC as we know it.

3. Just A Girl
No Doubt
Lead by Gwen Stefani, equally as successful as a solo act, but an unrivalled energy and stage presence. The ultimate front woman to this band of very cool musicians.

2. Push It
Salt n Pepa
I picked this song because it's PJ Harvey during a triumphant, fierce and joyful time in her life and you can hear her power all over this track. It's from her Mercury Prize-winning record 'Stories From the City, Stories From the Sea' which she described as her 'pop' record. It sounds to me like a woman in her prime who's getting lots of sex, love and laughter. I like listening to this when I'm already feeling elated - it feels like life couldn't get any better.

1. Did It Again
Kylie Minogue
It was hard to pick which hit made it to number 1, but not hard to put her in the top spot. She is an amazing entertainer, singer, business woman, survivor and a tops Aussie to boot. LOVE Kylie!
